The use of plant-based foods is increasing a great deal as more people are becoming more health conscious and realising it is no longer sustainable to eat animal protein. The increase of green house gases, the massive land destruction, the animal welfare issue arising from intensive farming and the depletion of fish stocks are all contributors to the need for a more sustainable way of eating which is going plant-based.

ANIMAL WELFARE:
When starting a plant-based lifestyle, you are not only improving your own health and well-being but also that of all animals.
By refusing to pay for animal products, you reduce the demand for them, which ensures fewer animals are bred in cramped conditions where they suffer massively and die in very bad conditions on farms and slaughterhouses.
Intensive factory farming keeps a high amount of animals in a reduced space to reduce costs, animals have very little to no access to sun light and the outdoors and the living conditions are extremely stressful as animals are cramped up and sitting/laying on their own faeces causing them infections and disease from which they die without ever getting any veterinary treatment.
Male chicks, are killed at just a day old simply because they can’t lay eggs and they don’t grow fast enough for meat production. This, happens regardless of whether a far is intensive, free-range or organic.
On dairy farms, cows are forcibly impregnated to produce milk and the calf taken away right after birth, so that, humans can consume the milk. The calf, if it’s female will be destined again for milk production and if male, normally slaughtered or become veal.
Fish farming causes the same problem in fish and when caught in the wild, a lot of by catch (other types of fish, dolphins, sea turtles, etc) is taken as well that is then thrown back dead overboard causing the massive fish stock and general marine life depletion that we are facing today.
